One of the Most Luxurious Car Brands in the World—Bentley

Bentley was established by W.O Bentley in 1919 as Bentley Motors Ltd. and made its first appearance at the London Motor Show. Since 1998,  it’s a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.

History
In the 1920s, the company developed a racing engine that could provide a speed of 80 mph breaking the records and winning at Le Mans in 1924. The victory continued for 4 consecutive years from 1927-1930, becoming the talk of the town. Every journey has its challenges and the brand faced financial difficulties which led Rolls Royce to acquire the company in 1931. As a result, the production came to a halt for 2 years, however, the founder re-assumed his role at Rolls Royce. He left after his contract ended as he wasn’t happy with the things.

With time, the technology was evolving and the company took full advantage by launching the Bentley Mark VI. It was one of the greatest moments for the brand as it allowed it to earn a reputation for manufacturing high-performance cars. In 1952, it launched Bentley R-Type Continental coupe whose top speed was 120 mph followed by the much-awaited Bentley Continental Flying spur. Two years later, Bentley S2 was announced that was equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 engine.

During the 1980s, Bentley Mulsanne was launched that could go from 0-60mph in just 7 seconds. The production increased outselling its associate—Rolls-Royce. However, Volkswagen bought the assets of Bentley. It meant that Volkwagen and Rolls-Royce would have a separate identity as brands. This acquisition also resulted in £500 million investment that was put towards building a new Bentley. With the revival of Bentley’s Le Mans heritage, the brand achieved another milestone. One of the honourable moments for the brand was when it custom made Bentley Mulliner for the Queen of England. Till date, it is an official supplier to the British Royal Family.

Today, it is one of the top car producers employing 4000 people. In 2011, the Bentley Mulsanne bagged the Luxury Car of the Year award. The brand not only brings in the highest standard of technology but continues to showcase impeccable craftsmanship. If you’re looking for second-hand cars, you can buy used Bentley cars online.
